Senior Pastor

Position: Senior Pastor

Denomination: Baptist

Reports to: God/ Church Leadership/ Congregation

Employment Type: Full-Time, variable schedule, including weekends and some evenings

Job Summary

The Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church, providing biblical teaching, pastoral care, leadership, and vision in accordance with the Holy Bible and Baptist doctrine. The Pastor will shepherd the congregation, oversee ministries, and engage in community outreach while fostering spiritual growth and discipleship. The ideal candidate should possess excellent interpersonal, communication, administrative and leaderships skills.

Responsibilities

Preaching & Teaching

  • Prepare and deliver biblically sound, engaging, and applicable sermons.

  • Lead Bible studies, discipleship programs, and spiritual educational initiatives.

  • Ensure doctrinal integrity in all teachings and church activities.

Pastoral Care & Counseling

  • Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and encouragement to members.

  • Conduct weddings, funerals, communion, baptisms, and other church ordinances.

  • Visit and minister to the sick, elderly, and those in need.

Leadership & Administration

  • Provide visionary leadership and direction for the church’s ministries.

  • Work closely with deacons, church staff, auxiliaries and committees to implement and fulfill church goals.

  • Oversee and mentor church staff and volunteers.

  • Ensure good stewardship of church finances and resources in collaboration with church leadership.

Evangelism & Outreach

  • Promote and lead efforts for local and global missions.

  • Engage with the community to share the Gospel and serve its needs.

  • Encourage and equip the congregation for evangelism and discipleship.

Worship Leadership

  • Collaborate with the worship team to create meaningful worship experiences.

  • Lead congregational prayer and guide the church in worship.

Qualifications

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong call to pastoral ministry.

  • Ordination and alignment with Baptist beliefs and doctrines.

  • Theological education from an accredited seminary (preferred but not required).

  • Strong preaching, teaching, and leadership skills.

  • Experience in pastoral ministry (preferred).

  • Ability to build relationships, disciple others, and lead with humility and integrity.

  • Must reside within a 40-mile radius of the church’s physical location.
